Who is she?
I am a woman with a mission: to live like I mean it and die satisfied.
Is that too much to ask? Why does it seem to happen rarely? Is it really true that “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.”? (Thoreau)
I don’t know what you guys are up to, but the desperation of my life was not quiet. I had to make a break for it.
I had gathered the achievements of western society: great job, gold-plated pension, nice toys, lovely home and smart, beautiful children. The bang-on middle of the middle class.
Then came a series of unfortunate events. And a choice: run harder on the treadmill to keep broken wheels turning or get some new wheels. True wheels. Bike wheels.
I gave it all up and redesigned life with a very different set of rules.
I now have no house, no debt, no employer and just a few choice possessions needed for my way of life. Will you come along for the ride? It could be interesting. I could crash and burn. I could win big.
Now: the bike touring. Why bike touring?
Play – Therapy – Community – Strength – Simplicity – Nature – Freedom
I can’t tell you how amazing it is on the open road with everything you need. (But I can try.) I want you to know that to live feeling your strength and independence, immersed in rushing wind and beautiful nature, will probably clean your heart out. And brain, too. It’s really a marvellous thing. Really.
Really. Would you like to try it? Perhaps you are already a convert and we can share our ideas and stories. Perhaps you have not touched a bicycle in years. No matter; this site is for you.
I want you to load yourself up on a humble, glorious bicycle and feel like a 9-year-old on a sunny Saturday morning. I don’t care if it’s for the evening or for the rest of your life. I’m here with information and inspiration to get you gliding down the road with the wind in your hair. You are stronger than you think. Absolutely. And your bike will prove it.
You’re not too old. You’re not too young. You’re not too fat, too weak or too scared. You’re perfect. You’re starting in the exact right place. Body follows heart. We got this. Let’s ride.
